SuperCuts SoccerFest is happy to be partnering with the “Kick For Nick” charity in 2011!

While on his first tour of duty in Iraq, U.S. Private Nick Madaras saw how much the Iraqi children loved soccer but never had soccer balls to play with. While home on leave from Iraq in July 2006, Nick, being an avid soccer player himself, gathered a great number of soccer to give to the underprivileged children near his post in Iraq. However, he was tragically killed that September and was never able to distribute the balls himself. Shortly after his death, the Kick For Nick charity was founded to continue Nick’s mission of collecting soccer balls for Iraqi children. The soccer balls collected will be shipped to Iraq and hand delivered to the children there by U.S. soldiers. To date, over 32,000 soccer balls have been collected from all over the United States.

This year, SoccerFest and Kick For Nick have partnered to try to collect as many soccer balls as possible during the one-day event. We, as the Soccerfest team, are attempting to spread the word about the Kick For Nick charity, and get the community involved in their mission. On the day of the event, we will be collecting new and used soccer balls to donate to the Kick For Nick foundation. Each soccer ball will be labeled with the words “PFC Nick Madaras, in memory of Nick, and shipped to children in Iraq.
SoccerFest realizes that many soccer players, their parents, and coaches have access to old soccer balls that are no longer in use. These soccer balls will be greatly appreciated by the underprivileged children of Iraq, and will help gather support for Kick For Nick’s mission!
